Bubba attacks the left

Stop the presses. John Doe agrees with Bill Clinton!

Politico's Jonathan Martin details how Bubba rips into the left for trying to make Arkansas' Sen. Blanche Lincoln an example out of the two term incumbent by supporting a primary candidate to her left.

"[Clinton] pounded the podium with Lincoln at his side, warning that national liberal and labor groups wanted to make her a “poster child” in the June 8 Senate run-off to send a message about what happens to Democrats who don’t toe the party line."

"'This is about using you and manipulating your votes to terrify members of Congress and members of the Senate,' Clinton said in the gym of a small historically black college here."

The rabid liberal left has the right to support whomever they want. But what has happened to the Democratic party is that whomever wins in the federal elections has to either toe the liberal line or be shunned, lose support and have a primary candidate supported by powerful outside interests.

I realize that I am opening up myself for criticism of being inconsistent. The left is not doing anything that conservatives such as myself support when there is a RINO or squishy moderate running for the GOP. The difference is subtle, so pay attention grasshoppers.

This is a center-right leaning nation. Except for certain pockets of liberalism. The real battle for the hearts and souls of the voters nationwide is between the center and the right. Historically only 20% of voters nationwide self-identify themselves as liberals. But liberals have infested the Democrat party and hold an inordinate amount of power compared to the percentage of the people who are liberal.

In other words, liberals should still be a minority in their own party. Assume that all liberals vote Democratic. Assume that roughly half of the voters vote for the Democratic candidate and half for the Republican (ignore for now we independents who essentially have no viable third-party choice). Liberals should still make up approximately 40% of all Democrat voters, even if all the liberals voted Democrat.

But any sane person who looks at the current national Democrat party can easily see that liberals dominate the party. The problem is that liberals tend to be fanatics, and they infest and take over wherever the power lies. That would be a compliment if they were not such a cancerous plague on our country.

They take over the unions. The typical union member is not a raving fire-breathing liberal, but almost all of the leaders are. They take over the media, the entertainment business, the universities. Those of us in the majority--moderates and conservatives--feel almost strangers in our own country. While we are hard at work feeding our families and making a living the liberals are out there influencing our government and our country much out of proportion to the power that they should have as a distinct minority of the population.

I do not have a problem with moderates. Usually I disagree with them to some extent, but they are not out to totally change our economy and turn us into a socialist nation, or worse.

This is a war for the soul of the Democrat party. The war was lost long ago, but the moderates, the Blue Dog Democrats, though few and far between, are trying to fight back. I applaud them. We need them. The Democrat party needs them. Take back your party moderate and conservative Democrats. Or will the last Blue Dog Democrat turn out the lights as you flee that once great party?
